Wow! I found this article on buzzfeed regarding beauty around the world.
Interesting how different countries retouched this photo. I expected the retouching to be a little different in each country to support their style of photography and their perception of beauty. But, some of these are just WOW...good and bad wow. In my opinion.
Definitely some insight to the variety of photography retouching styles. So this got me to thinking, this is a good example why it is so important to have the preconsult with my clients. I want to meet their needs. I want to know what their style is, their personality and what represents them. I want to make sure we are on the same page and that we will be a good fit for each other.
I believe you can like the quality (technical aspects, sharp, clear, posing, lighting etc.) of a photographer but perhaps not like their style. This does not mean that you can't and won't be a good match. It means both the photographer and the client need to be very clear on what they want. If you are looking for a fun, natural family session, you as a client needs to make sure the photographer is aware of that. Otherwise they may shoot a traditional style of session. Although, you may appreciate, like the quality of the work, I as a photographer want you to love the style as well.
